My world is my oyster, and platter, and dish….
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, said, “Change your thoughts, and you change your world”. The esteemed author was an optimist who encouraged people to interpret thoughts into reality! I’m Sold!
Inspired by both the words of Dr. Peale and my infatuation for globes I decided to use old maps, and decoupage them onto unique surfaces. I chose a tin tray (looks like silver, fooled you), an old dinner plate, and the bottom of my left-over plastic food container.
Cut your maps in circles, long strips, or simply cover the entire surface. Be sure to cut slits on the paper so it can easily bend around the curved edges, keeping lines flush against surface. Once the paper is in place, then grab your paint brush and go to work! I suggest 2-3 coats for the MOD MODGE. Put on evenly, and wait until each layer is dry until slapping on another coat.
If you want finish these off super fancy, back the underneath of your surface with felt (some versions come with a self-adhesive, or just use a glue gun). Your decoupaged platters, plates, bowls, will now SERVE your decedent decor and world traveller needs (ps- don’t eat or wash… for fab decor use only!)
FUN IDEA: Make a bunch and hang together on a wall! This collection will look tres impressive and is the perfect statement and/or solution for an empty wall.
Have fun in YOUR world!
